RYLA 2018       
This year’s RYLA camp hosted 287 High School Juniors from Rotary District 5910.  Camp was held on  January  05-07, 2018 at the Pineywoods Baptist Encampment at Woodlake Texas.   RYLA became an official Rotary project in the 1960’s.  The program emphasizes leadership and personal growth.  It encourages leadership of youth by youth, as outlined by Rotary International, every RYLA program covers the following core topics:
  • Fundamentals of leadership
  • Ethics of positive leadership
  • Importance of communication skills in effective leadership
  • Problem solving and conflict management
  • Rotary’s purpose and service to community
  • Building of self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Elements of community and global citizenship
  • Personal Growth in Leadership and Citizenship Skills
The Rotary Club of Lake Conroe sent six students;  Kelsi Hopkins, Rachel Lathrop, Nathaniel Colborn, Jack Talley, Daniel Gomez and exchange student Leonardo Barbosa.
