MEMORY PARK NEWS:

Thank you to all who came out last week to help us move the picnic bench and reset the StoryWalk Panels. Boy, did WE get lucky! A group of strong workmen were in the park fixing the walkways, and when they saw us attempting to move that heavy table, the 5 of them picked it up, raised it over their heads, and had it in its new position in no time. We all dug in our pockets, pooled our money and bought them lunch! We then spent our time with the much easier work of re-positioning the signs. MUCH less physical.

"StoryWalk Phase II" is up at Memory Park. The StoryWalk is a young readers book with pages laminated to a sign. The child moves along the walk reading each page.
This project, in conjunction  with The Friends of The Charles B Stewart Library , will be a wonderful new addition to Memory Park, and will be accomplished in three phases. For Phase II, the picnic bench has been moved to this area and the stakes have been rearranged into a longer walk centered around in the bench.  This will allow young children to come and read the pages during summer vacation months while we work on Phase III, which will be a cheery, colorful garden in this space, with the book pages as part of a permanent, rotating installation.

GOOD NEWS
Roz announced a couple of weeks ago she and her husband enjoyed the Walden wine dinner that they won at the Rotary fundraiser donated by Chef Rick!  They had the most unbelieve meal by far in the top ten fabulous!  They did a great job and if you ever get the change to bid on the win dinner do it! Everyone needs to come by and enjoy a great meal and put the comments on the websites that rate restaurants! Walden is a great place come out and enjoy!

Pam announced $8 for surviving eight years with her husband living in the middle of God knows where and construction of their home!

Mark announced a challenge to everyone to make their donation to EREY!  He did it today! Also his guest April Jackson is interested in joining our Club!

Doris announced I’m back and thank you for your prayers!  She has had two good days a nice and having a nice start to today!

Charlie announced he had a visitor from Australia visiting him.  He met him on a trip to Australia visiting some other folks they hit it off and he jokingly told him if they ever visit the come see us and they did!

Bill announced information was in the newspaper in regards to Entergy substation project that he mentioned a few weeks back.  The project will potentially route along the 1097 bridge with 130ft concrete poles.  Entergy still has not determined the route, and he is still working on getting someone to come speak to the Club on this matter!

Mike announced $1 because he got rid of the cat!  The cat was playing with his foot and when he looked down it looked like a crime scene.  The cat had apparently punctured a vain in his leg.  Also if you noticed he is wearing a Rotary shirt from the Southern California Club.  Also he is taking his grandson on a summer trip to visit Google.  They will be staying two nights in three rated hotel that cost $698/night not including parking of an additional $35.00 sure makes you appreciate the prices in Texas!
