Speaker – Denton Florian
-Knowing what is right & doing what is right are two very different things
-Sam Houston was the Governor of Tennessee. He married Eliza Allen and the marriage collapsed almost
immediately. It was officially over after 10 weeks. He went to live in the Indian Territory, where
Oklahoma is located today. He could have easily disappeared from history had he have not broken up
the corruption in the Indian Territory.
-He made a decision to not kill Santa Anna during the Battle at San Jacinto. He chose the right thing, not
what he wanted to do.
-He was elected to Governor of Texas but rejected to join the Confederacy so he was ejected out of the
Governor’s mansion.
-The creation of the documentary began from Denton reading a Biography about Sam Houston and
discovering that there was not a single Documentary about him. You can purchase the documentary at
the Sam Houston Museum in Huntsville, or on their website.
