Additional Club Announcements
May 5th-Los Compadres at La Toretta Update
· We currently have 20 teams.
· We need Auction items; anything is good. Gift certificates get those turned in for restaurants and anything else.
· GOOD NEWS
· Deanna announced her daughter surprised them by coming in early from China!
· Randell’s son participated in one act play this year…youngest and oldest participated in the same play. They took state in one Act play for Montgomery High! They will be presenting the paly in Conroe in about one week!
· Doris announced that on Monday night at the First Baptist Church eight High School choir’s performed their UIL songs! She also ran into Victoria and her husband, because he was being honored as a notable teacher. Also the Houston Rotary Club is in town for their District Conference. She saw the governor is riding around in a blue and gold stretch hummer limo!
· Gary had lunch with Mark Stevens yesterday and they had such a great lunch that he showed up this morning for the meeting!
· Jan announced that the splint is off on Monday and the surgery is scheduled for Tuesday!
· Chief Rick asked for prayer’s for his brothers partner Todd bothers. He will be having surgery in May for a bypass and total replacement.
· Mike announced to Chef a Congratulations on a well-deserved award and that he was also impressed by Lorrie’s public speaking!
Club Announcements:
- Steak and Beans is next week. No morning meeting. Roz’s house 6-8PM
- No morning meeting on May 4th. We have Los Compadres on May 5th.
- Next board meeting is going to be May 8th at 5PM. It will be at Daniela’s office in Blue Heron
- April 21st – 23rd is District Conference in Lufkin.
- Ladies Night Out is April 25th. We are going to do another Bunco night to get us ready for May 5th.
- May 17th is Scholar Athlete. It will be at the Lone Star Convention Center. It is $30 a person to attend. Please let Ms. Peggy know if you will be able to make it and sit at the Rotary table. This is the 12th year that Rotary has done this program. Last year they gave out over $35,000 in scholarships.
- On May 12th, the Chamber is hosting a golf scramble at the new miniature golf course. They have asked non-profits in Montgomery County to participate. We will be able to set up at one of the holes and promote the club and what we do in the community. I will asking for a few volunteers to set up. It will be in the morning until about lunch time that day.

- Doris / Randall – Youth Exchange - we need host families for next year’s exchange student. It is a 3-4 month commitment.
- Service – Jan - we need a committee of 3-4 people to review the non-rotarian applications. Please let Jan know if you can help.
- Foundation – Gary – we are 100% EREY
- Polio – Mike- no new cases. The last day to buy raffle tickets for the watch is June 22nd.

Special Presentation – Chef Rick Adams was honored with the District's highest achievement – The District Roll of Fame.
Rick Adams has served in all avenues of service in the RC Lake Conroe through his 10 years as a Rotarian. He has served as the New Generations officer and chair over the last 4+ years. He has had perfect attendance in 2016 /2017 year. He has helped with the District Conference in 2015 /2016 year. Rick Adams has served as a chair for New Generations over the last several years. He focuses on the Montgomery Interact Club. He has helped with several projects including: (1) Operation Prom where he promotes donations for deserving seniors to go to prom night that they otherwise would not be able to go. (2) Ronald MacDonald house. He coordinates the collection of aluminum can tabs all year long to donate to Ronald MacDonald House. (3) He heads up our Candy Roll project where last year both Willis and Montgomery High Interact clubs stuffed and wrapped over 10,000 candy rolls at Christmas for distribution to needy kids in Mexico. (4) large participation in the District Grant project, Clothing for Kids.
Program- Charlie presented the budget report. The club has three separate accounts for operations (1) foundation (2) operating (3) memory park. There are also reserve accounts in the form of CDs.
The foundation account is funded by the annual fundraiser – Los Compadres. These funds are used to pay for projects throughout the year. The operating account is funded by member dues.
